Dadda took a day off yesterday and we had a lot of fun together. I love playing with dadda and he loves playing with me too. I got up early in the morning and went out for a walk with dadda. I don’t get a chance to go out with him in the morning since I have to go to school. But it was a holiday for both of us, so we went out together.
We came back and had breakfast – porridge with dry fruits and fruits! Dadda had toasted bread with baked beans. After finishing the breakfast, we decided to clean the garden together.It has been a long time since we cleaned the garden; it was full of dry leaves, sticks, etc. Dada took out an old basket from the garage and said ‘we will collect all the dry leaves and sticks and put them into the basket’. Mumma joined us soon after. With help of a broom she collected the leaves and sticks at a place and we quickly collected them into the basket.
The garden looked a lot cleaner after the dry leaves were removed. Now it was time to prune the plants. Dadda has some special tools to cut the branches of trees and prune the plants. We have a lot of flowering plants that have to be maintained well so that they can grow well and give us a lot of flowers. Dadda started pruning the plants, while I looked at the plants carefully. Something was wrong! ‘Why is the leaf looking weird shaped’, I thought. Then suddenly something jumped off the leaf – a grasshopper! It was completely green coloured, so it got mixed with the leaves. I followed it as it jumped from this plant that and then finally it jumped across the boundary wall.
Then mumma called, ‘Veerica come here, see what an amazing thing!”. I ran where mumma was standing and saw a beautiful lady bird. It was such a tiny insect, yet so beautiful. It was completely re with black polka dots! It was sitting on a yellow flower in our garden. I asked mumma to take a picture, so that I could show it to my friends in schools. She quickly took out her mobile phone and clicked a few shots. I asked mumma, how do the insects get their colours? Mumma said it is the way nature made them. She said there are many other beautiful and amazing insects around the world like caterpillars, butterflies, moths, etc.
Dadda almost finished pruning the plants and the garden looked amazing. Everything was back in shape. Dadda said we would get some more flowering plants and plant then next weekend. Cleaning the garden was fun and then it was time to play. Mumma brought some juice for us, since we did a lot of work! Dadda rested for some time and then we started playing in the garden. It was such a happy day!
