I Promise I Will Behave Well

Yes, that is what I said to mumma and dadda last night. I had been misbehaving with them for the past few days but I really didn’t understand. I shouted at mumma for not making my favourite breakfast and I behaved rudely with dadda because he couldn’t come home early and take me out. I had planned for a great summer vacations, but mumma and dadda became very sad due to my behaviour.

But they were very nice to me, no one shouted at me. I have seen many parents shout and hit their children when they misbehave or don’t listen to them. But my parents are so nice that they didn’t do anything like that. When I asked mumma, why they didn’t scold me, she said that would have worsened the situation. She said, they were nice to me, which is why I understood my fault and apologised.

Mumma attended a workshop where they taught parents about teaching discipline to their children (she told me) and there they said that parents should not yell or shout at children to teach them discipline. Rather they should stay cool and handle the situation calmly. She also said that she realised they were not able to give me enough time for the past few days, so I became irritated. All that I did was just to gain attention and nothing else. Mumma realised that and she spent some good time with me, which made the situation better. She also told me that parents have a lot of responsibilities on their shoulders and they find it difficult to manage time. As a result they can’t give enough attention to their children, so instead of being irritated children should tell them about how they feel. Talking can solve many problems.

She also said that by staying calm, she taught me to stay calm. Mumma says, children do what they see their parents do, so in order to teach discipline to the children, parents should first become disciplined. Now I understand why mumma used to walk away whenever I started to yell and shout. I thought she was being rude to me, but now I understand why she did it.

She also rewarded me with my favourite chocolate, when I apologised for my bad behaviour. I was so happy! I know mumma and dadda love me very much! Now I will make sure that I never misbehave with my parents. Dadda told me that I should behave well with all the elders as well as my friends, so that everyone loves me. Even my teachers will praise me and reward me for my good behaviour. Now I can enjoy the summer vacations as I had planned it! Lots of fun with mumma and dadda and lots of creative things! I always tell my friends that I have the best mumma and dadda in the world and I love them so much! So I promise I will behave well!

Some More Art and Craft for Summer Vacation

I love summer vacations! No waking up in the morning! No school! No Homework and there is so much you can do. I was waiting eagerly for the holidays and they are finally here. I have made a long list of things I want to do during the vacations and with grandma and grandpa here, I can have even more fun!

Mumma gave a sweet surprise this morning. She bought me a lot of games, fun activities and creativity kits. Mumma says it is very important to nurture creativity since it helps us in many ways. I thought creativity only meant making beautiful drawings and painting; but mumma said creativity is about all the innovative things that we can do. She said if I can make something new out of the building blocks – that is creativity; if I can think of some new and interesting game – that is creativity.

I told mumma, I have often heard people say, creativity is inbuilt. So how can I become creative?  She smiled and said, there are many ways in which we can nurture creativity inside us. So this summer we are going to do a lot of creative things through play and activities, she said. Mumma said being creative helps us become confident and it helps us cope with many adverse situations.

So we made a plan – one day we are going to make some models using modelling clay, then we will call all the friends and do some imaginative play (king and queen sort of); then mumma will teach me to make things using building blocks and so on. She said we will also make some nice decorative and colourful salads one day. Sounds so interesting! Everything sounds so exciting to me! I checked the bag of goodies and I saw a number of story books. Mumma, dadda and I will read them together before sleeping.

There is one more thing I want to tell you – though it is a secret between me and mumma, mumma will buy me a digital camera and we will take a lot of pictures – insects, animals, plants, mumma, dadda and of course mine! I have planned to shoot a movie – mumma as the queen, dadda the king and I will be the princess! It seems this vacation will be very exciting! I can do things that I have never done before and mumma seems to be in a very good mood. She has promised me to do everything that I want to do. Mumma and I promised we will avoid watching TV and using mobile phones and do what we like doing. We will do something new and interesting every day and make a note of it in our diary.

God must be very happy with me! He has planned the best for me – first we went to the amazing road trip, then my grandparents will be here soon and then we will be enjoying summer vacations to the fullest! Thank you god for making my life so happy!
