Playing in the Snow – The Best Thing You Can Do in Winter

Snowplay

Finally it was snowing in London last weekend! The best thing that could happen in winter is snow. Everything gets covered in snow and is coloured white. I love playing in the snow and so does dadda. Mumma is a bit sceptical about allowing me to play in the snow, but dadda takes me out whenever it snows. We have a gala time together, while mumma prepares hot chocolate and some yummy snacks that we can enjoy once we are back.

Not only me, the other children in our neighbourhood also come out to play in the snow. Most people think, making snowman is the only thing you can do when it snows, but there are a lot of other things you can do. We made snow forts in front of our home. It is very similar to making sand forts on the beaches. You can create a fort as big as you want. Next was time for some snow fight. Dadda taught me how to small a snow ball and hit at a target. Some other children joined us and we had a lot of fun.

I have seen some other people do sledding. Some had bought sleds, while some of them used homemade cardboard sleds. Once my friend’s mumma said there are some classic winter traditions that many people follow once it starts snowing. One is making snow ice cream and the other making maple syrup snow candy. It is very easy – for the snow ice cream combine freshly collected snow with some condensed milk and add some pistachios and nuts if you wish to and mix well till the condensed milk freezes. Mix it well till the mixture takes an ice cream like texture. For the maple syrup candy, you need to pour boiling maple syrup onto a bed of fresh snow. The maple syrup cools down instantly. Press a popsicle stick into the syrup on one end and start rolling up.

There are ideally endless things you can do while it snows, but dadda says it is important to stay safe and keep others safe as well. Therefore before you go out to play in the snow, make sure you dress properly. It is best to dress in layers so that you can put on extra clothes or take them off as needed. Avoiding frostbite is another important thing to remember.

Thus it is necessary to cover your ears, fingers, toes and nose. Another thing to remember is that you should never stay outside in the snow for too long. Take breaks to warm yourself up; have some hot drinks (like we had hot chocolate…..yumm). It will keep you safe and hydrated. If your hands are too cold, never place them immediately under hot water. Try placing your hands in warm water first, this will prevent burn injuries.

Playing in the snow is an amazing experience, but you need to keep safety in mind as well. So, make all preparations and then go out to have as much fun as you want!

My New Year Resolutions for 2017

Happy New Year everyone! How was the New Year? I had great fun with mumma, dadda and my friends. Lots of baking, cooking delicious foods and fun! We went to Trafalgar Square on the New Year’s Eve and it was great fun! It is one of the most popular places in London where people (both locals and tourists) gather to celebrate New Year. Even though there is no firework in Trafalgar Square, a large screen is set up where you can see the fireworks from South Bank. Then we had dinner in a plush restaurant and went around the city in our car. It was an amazing day! We came back home and wished our neighbours who were still partying; we were also

2017 is already here and it is time to make some New Year resolutions. I have heard people saying people make resolutions just for the sake of it but do not follow it; I don’t know how true it is but this year I have decided to make some New Year resolutions and I will surely follow them throughout the year. I have thought about it a lot and have come up with the following resolutions:

  • I will be a good girl and listen to mumma and dadda
  • I will eat healthy foods. I will eat whatever mumma gives me (I will have some good foods only on weekends)
  • I will be good with my friends (I will share things and I won’t fight with them anymore)

I told mumma and dadda about my resolutions and they were very happy with me but dadda said I must decide on things that I will be able to achieve. I asked mumma and dadda about their resolutions – mumma said she would cook lots of good food for both of us and dadda said he would take us long vacation this year. I am so happy! I asked my friends about their New Year resolutions as well, they also decided to listen to their parents and study well.

I asked mumma why people make resolutions during New Year; she said resolutions are about making life happier. People promise themselves about doing good things that improve their lives as well as improve the lives of people associated with them. For instance, if someone decides to quit smoking he/she decides to lead a healthier life and also saves other people from passive smoking and causes less harm to the environment. All resolutions are linked with the well being of human beings and nature. So on the first day of the year we all make resolutions to make the Earth a better place. She also said that if we decide to do something, we must stick to it and follow it all round the year.

So I promise myself that I will stick to my resolutions and make my parents happy and proud of me. What are your New Year resolutions? Do you think you can follow them all through the year?
