Hi everybody! How was your weekend? What did you do over the weekend? We had a great time. We went out, had good food and enjoyed a lot. This weekend dadda took us to the Tower of London and we had great fun! Dadda said we have heard a lot of stories about kings, queens and prisoners, so let’s go and have a look at a real palace!
To make the trip more exciting and interesting we took a boat to the Tower Millennium Pier from Greenwich, passing through Tower Bridge. We reached the Tower of London at 9’o clock when the gates were just opening. Dadda had already booked the tickets online and we collected them from the Welcome Centre, so we didn’t have to wait in the queue. We clicked some photographs as we entered the sprawling complex that had several buildings. We first went to see the ‘Crown Jewels’ where several precious gems were at display. There were swords, spurs, rings, royal robes and many other things on display as well. We also entered the Jewel House to see the diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Mumma said the kings and queens would wear them or these adorned their crowns. That’s so exciting! I wish I could wear a crown like that.
I enjoyed watching the palatial guards march up and down at the Tower of London. They were wearing black and red uniforms with a funny looking hat.
We next reached the White Tower. We saw the Line of Kings, which had several suits of armour and arms on display. Dadda said Henry VIII and his men wore these when they were out on a war. He also said that these are on display for more than 300 years. We also visited The Chapel of St. Peter ad Vincula and The Green Tower. We fed the ravens, which were huge glossy black birds flying all around the towers.
Each building was huge and amazing. I wish I could stay in a house that was this big. The grounds are huge; I can play all day long. As our tour came to an end, dadda told me a short history about the Tower of London, so that I could share it with my friends.
He said the Tower of London was built by William the Conqueror in 1078. It was the royal residence and it had a mint, an armoury, a prison and a zoo as well. Originally it was not this huge, the kings kept on adding to the original structure and it became this huge. Dadda also said that the ravens are believed to protect the Crown and the Tower, according to the traditions.

We had a great day together and I would ask dadda to take me again to the Tower of London. I will also tell everything about it to my friend and about the things we did there. I wish I was a princess, then I could have lived in the palace with mumma and dadda!
