Cake Baking Starts Again

Mother and daughter baking

Can you smell the aroma of freshly baked cakes and cookies? I can. Oh mumma is baking fresh cakes for Christmas! Yes it is again that time of the year when everyone is busy baking fresh cakes and cookies. I went to my friend’s house last day and her mother gave us some Christmas themed cupcakes. She made some yummy Santa hat cupcakes. They were normal cupcakes with red frosting in shape of Santa’s hat and white frosting on the sides and the top.

This weekend my friends are going to come over to my place for the Christmas party. We will also make some Christmas themed cakes for our guests. Mumma will make a big Christmas cake and I will make cupcakes for my friends. Last night I told mumma that even I want to make some Christmas themed cakes for my friends; she said she recently came across an article that discussed about various Christmas cupcake decorations, so she will surely help me decorate the cupcakes.

Here are some ideas that she shared with me:

  1. Peppermint Candy Cane Cupcakes

It is much like marble cake but instead of the chocolate flavour, you need to use red colour batter with white batter. Then top them with white frosting; freeze them for an hour and then dip them in white molten chocolate. Crush some peppermint candies and sprinkle on top of the chocolate coated frosting and insert candy canes from the top. That’s all, you’re done.

  1. Snowman Cupcakes

For snowman cupcakes, you need normal cupcakes, Oreo cookies, marshmallow and peppermint sprinkles. To create the hat, cut the bottom quarter of a large marshmallow and place it on the Oreo cookie. Attach it with help of candy melts. Once it gets attached dip the entire thing into molten dark chocolate. Sprinkle some peppermint and let it cool. Get some candy eyes and cherry sour candies for the nose. Once the hats are ready, cover the cupcakes with white frosting and place the hats, eyes and nose carefully.

  1. Ginger Bread Cupcakes

Christmas is incomplete without ginger bread, so you can try this out. Make some spicy cup cakes (ones that are made using ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves) and let it cool. Buy some gingerbread cookies in various shapes – stars, bells, snowflakes, etc. You can also make them at home if you how to make them. Decorate the cup cakes with cinnamon flavoured frosting and place the gingerbread cookies on top of each cake. Use a portion of the same frosting to decorate the cookies as well.

There are many more Christmas themed cakes that you can make at home – Christmas tree, reindeer, Santa hat and lots more. So if you’re done with decorating the Christmas tree, take time to make some cupcakes that not only look great but taste yum! Share your recipes and share pictures of the homemade cakes! Merry Christmas to everyone and have as much fun as you can!
