Hello everyone! I have a little surprise for you. Want to see it? Here it is.
Glass Paint Bottle Candle Holder
We have a small exhibition in our school next week. Our teacher has asked us to make simple things out of unused materials. I told mumma and after a lot of brainstorming we thought of making candle holder with help of an old and unused glass jar.
Put a candle inside the jar and light it in the evening, it will look amazing!
Want to make something similar? I can tell you how we made it.
You will need a few things like an empty glass jar; it can be anything like an empty Nutellajar or an empty jam jar, glass colours, wire (any colour of your choice). We brought a golden wire to match the pattern and long nose pliers.
- First, clean the jar properly. Mumma used her nail polish remover to clean the outer surface. She said cleaning will make sure the colour stick to the glass properly and evenly and there will be no dirt to ruin the design patterns.
- Next cut the wire, about a foot long. If you want a shorter or longer handle, you can cut the wire accordingly.
- You have to cut another wire by measuring the diameter of the neck of the jar. Mumma wrap the wire around the neck of the jar and cut the wire a bit longer. She said we would need to make two hoops to wrap the wire firmly around the neck. So she kept it a bit longer.
- Next choose some of your favourite colours. I chose golden and silver. Mumma said we can also use oil paint instead of glass paint, but it takes longer to dry, so we got glass paints. We decorated the glass jar with golden and silver polka dots. You can make any design or pattern of your choice. You can make flowers, shapes (abstract pattern β mumma told me) or anything else that you want. Leave it to dry for some time. We left it to dry for about 8 to 10 hours.
- Once the paint on the jar dries up, you can attach the handle. Make a loop on one end of the wire that has to be wrapped around the nextwith help of the long nose pliers. Hold the tip of the wire and turn it around to make a loop.
- Now turn the wire around the neck and pass it through the loop. Then turn the loose end around the loop to make a knot.
- Make a U-shape with help of the long wire and make two half loops.
Pass the ends of the U-shaped wire through the wire around the neck of the jar and attached tightly with help of the loops. Make sure the wires are properly attached to hold onto the jar.
Now itβs done! You can make many types of candle holders by using glass jars. I hope my teacher likes this!
