My First Sleepover – A Fun Night with Friends

I have been hearing a lot of stories about mumma’s and dadda’s sleepovers. They had so much fun with their friends. They did whatever they wanted and there was no one to stop them. Mumma told me she had a pillow fight contest with her friend during one sleepover and it was the best ever thing they did together.

I always wanted to experience something like that. So I told dadda that I want to do a sleepover with my friend and have as much fun as they did. Dadda agreed immediately but he told we need to ask mumma as well. When mumma came back from shopping, I told her about my sleepover plan. She said, she went for a sleepover when she was ten years old…so I might be too young for a night over. But then I had an instant idea in mind – what if my friends come over to sleep with me in my house? She said she will talk to my friend’s parents to check if they want to allow my friend for a sleepover.

My parents and my friend’s parents are know each other very well and they have been going out frequently, so I don’t think they will have any problem if my friends stays with me for one night. Mumma said she will call them in the morning and if they allow her, we can have a sleepover during the weekend.

I was very anxious to know whether my friend would be allowed to come over to our place or not. Next morning I woke up early and ate my breakfast without creating any problem. Then I waited for mumma to call my friend’s parents. It was around 10’o clock when mumma called them; once she put down the phone she said – congratulations! Get ready for your first sleepover!

I was so excited. I will spend a night with my friend alone and we can do anything we want! I asked mumma and dadda, what would I require for a sleepover? They said we would need some snacks, juices, lots of games and some story books. So made a list of the chips, wafers, chocolates, juices, story books and the games we need. It was quite a lengthy list but mumma said she will get me everything. I told my friend to bring some story books and games from her home, so that we have lots of them.

Finally it was Saturday night and it was time for our first sleepover. My friend came around 7’o clock. Her parents came to leave her. They stayed to chat with mumma and dadda for some time and then they went back home. We went inside our room and started playing. We enjoyed our snacks and enjoyed storytelling. Finally we were sleepy and fell asleep. Next morning we woke up early and enjoyed our breakfast together. Mumma prepared the best breakfast ever!

Then she said my friends parents would be coming to take her home, so we should have as much fun as we want till they come.

Going to Swimming for the First Time

This week has been very exciting for me. After I had a great time at the zoo, it was time to go for swimming for the first time. All these days I have been playing in my kiddie pool at the backyard but it is time now to go to a real pool. Dadda said, I should learn swimming, since it is a good form of exercise and it is good for my health. Mumma and dadda can swim very well, so they will start giving me swimming lessons from this week onwards.

Dadda said he will buy me a new swim suit, swim goggles and some floating device. So we will go to the shopping mall today evening. Mumma said, we will start with kicking the legs and try to float in the water. Next I will have to learn to blow bubbles in water and put the head under the water holding back the breath. Seems it would be tough. But if mumma and dadda are with me, I am sure I can do it.

I asked dadda, how long will it take to learn to swim? He said, it depends on how well I learn the first steps. He also said, we will go for the swimming lessons regularly, so that I can learn it quickly. Dadda also said that I should be serious when he teaches me how to swim, because he will be my teacher and we should do whatever our teachers tell us to do. I said, what would I do, if I get afraid? Dadda replied, he will let me have fun for some time before we actually start the swimming lessons, so that the fear goes away. He also assured that mumma and dadda will be there to look after me, so there is nothing to be afraid of.

Mumma told me a funny story about her swimming lessons. She started with the doggie paddle and while she was practising it, she became upside down and drank a lot of water from the pool. She was very afraid to get back to the pool, but then my granny gave her all the courage so she went back and learned how to swim. Mumma said, if I want to learn swimming quickly, I will have to drink lots of milk and eat well, so that I become strong. So I will drink all the milk mumma gives me from tomorrow morning, so that I can swim very well.

Tomorrow will be my first day at the swimming pool and I am very excited about it. I told my friend about my swimming lessons with my dadda; she said she also loves to go to the pool and have fun with her parents. The where we will be going, will have lots of other children. I hope I make good friends there, so that we can have fun in the water. Dadda promised he will come back early from work and take me for the swimming lessons. I will keep you updated about my lessons and tell you how quickly I learnt swimming!
