My First Day at Nursery

Going to nursery is fun, lots of activities, playing and having a great time with friends. I have been attending Deans Community High School, Livingston for some time now and I have made a lot of friends. While I was talking to Nani yesterday, she asked me whether I was enjoying nursery. I said yes! Then Nani said mamma and dadda did a great job preparing me for the first day at nursery.

The first day at nursery! I don’t remember too many things about my first day at Deans Community High School, so I decided to ask dadda about it.

I had my bath and wore a pretty dress. Now it’s time for breakfast and then I will be leaving for nursery. Dadda drives me to nursery every day and today I decided to hear the story about my first day at nursery. We finished breakfast and dadda took out his car from the garage; I kissed mom goodbye and sat inside the car. Then I asked dadda to tell me about my first day at nursery.

And here the story begins….

With a smile on his face, dadda said, starting nursery was a big milestone for me and my parents. They wanted to put me in the best nursery, so they started searching for a good nursery in our area. They visited a number of nurseries and finally after a week they found the perfect one.

They interacted with the staffs and the head of the institution and finally when mom and dadda were convinced they decided to enrol me in that nursery. But dadda wanted me to visit the nursery and see whether I liked it or not. So the next day all three of us again visited the nursery. He said I was very happy meeting children of my age. But at that point of time I didn’t know I had to spend hours away from mom and dadda.

Dadda said they were very concerned about my reaction on the very first day of nursery. So, they started telling me stories of their childhood, nursery days and how they enjoyed with friends. I still remember dadda took out an album with photos from his nursery days. It was so amazing, he promised to make a similar album for me as well.

Finally the day arrived, when they had to take me nursery for the first time. Mom dressed me in my favourite pair of jeans and t-shirt. She also prepared my favourite breakfast. Then it was time to click photos – My First Day at Nursery photo! Dadda drove us to Deans Community High School and as we reached, there were many other parents waiting with their children. As the bell rang children were taken inside and I got scared too; but then dadda smiled and said, “don’t worry I’ll wait for you here” and kissed me.

As we came close to my nursery, I asked “did I cry?” He said no, you are a brave girl so you didn’t cry and made us proud. Dadda said their efforts were fruitful; they prepared me well so there was no problem during the transition. Finally we reached nursery and I kissed dadda goodbye.

Mumma Cured My Cough without Visiting the Doctor

Winter is round the corner and it’s time to play with mumma and dadda in the snow. Yes, last week there was a heavy snowfall and there was a lot of snow in the backyard. Dadda went out to clean the snow, while I and mumma were busy playing with snowballs. We had a lot of fun but I started coughing just after a few hours.

I couldn’t sleep that night due to continuous coughing; it was very uncomfortable and irritating. Mumma was also awake all night trying to soothe my cough. Mumma got worried and was ready to take me to the doctor, when our neighbour came to visit us. When she heard about my health she asked mumma to try out some home remedies for cough instead of giving medicines. She said, there are serious side effects of over-the-counter medicines so it is best to avoid them.

Natural Home Remedies for Cough

Our neighbour asked mumma to give me honey, ginger and lemon in hot water. I was very happy hearing this since over the counter medicines taste very bad and I hate them. I love eating honey; it’s sweet and yummy! Dadda came back home and he suggested mumma to make tea with honey, lemon and ginger so that it tastes good. Mumma made it for me and I drank the tea while it was warm. It tasted so good and it really soothed my sore throat and cough.

Later when I asked dadda whether it was some magic, he told me that honey is universally known as the best natural medicine to soothe sore throat and relieve cough. He also said that normal processed honey is not good enough, so he got raw, dark amber honey for best results. Dadda said honey and lemon breaks down the mucous and lemon is also a rich source of Vitamin C. Honey also has some anti-bacterial properties that neutralizes the bacteria in the throat and relieves the irritation. Ginger is also well known for its medicinal values to soothe cough and cold. So the mixture of all the three ingredients did all the magic.

Over-the-counter medicines made me feel weak and drowsy, but the natural homemade remedy made me feel good without making me drowsy. Mumma and dadda gave me this natural medicine made of honey, lemon and ginger twice for 3-4 days and my cough got cured soon.

I asked dadda about the honey based cough syrups that are available in the drug stores (my friend told me about it, her mom gave her when she had cough and cold). Dadda said they contain preservatives, artificial flavours so the natural properties of honey get lost. Natural honey is yummy and full of medicinal values, so it is best to have honey in raw form.
I told all my friends about this new medicine and how fast it cured my cough. They are very excited about it and they want to try it as well. Thanks to our neighbour who suggested such an amazing natural remedy!
